Hello Mr. 24Yep (A.K.A. Trey),

So good to be writing you in person. I've been a fan of your channel since I got into the hobby 2.5 years ago. Really appreciate all of your videos and everything you do for the community, including this competition.

For your consideration is my YepSpec Valley of Fire build. You challenged us to a $150 budget build, my wife challenged me to paint it with a Valley of Fire State Park theme, even though this only the second body I've ever painted (LoL). This also is only my second scx24 build. I spent way too much time trying to trx4ms as good as a scx24 for my local competitions.

It has a 3D printed PETG chassis and skid plate (3 pieces). I made the body cross braces from a spare piece of plastic that I had in the basement. I was inspired by your stock trans mount sliders and made a set. Although, I must have done something wrong as I just drilled an extra hole in each and they came out symmetrical, LoL.

Some of the other creative things, custom links for a ~152mm wheelbase. Front links are ~42mm and rear links are ~82mm. I used the Rampcrab driveshaft extensions in the rear. I saw these on your channel and ordered a bag. I modded these by drilling out the boss end so that the screw goes all the way in. That way it holds the other shaft firm against the opposite wall of this adapter. Seems to take the slop out of them.

The motor is a GAC Racing Cedar equivalent paired to an AM32 ESC from AliExpress. This is a super smooth setup with superb low speed craw and descent wheel speed with a 2S battery. I'm using Meus ISO front axle from a 4WS two pack. Originally, I had it on my class 3 build but couldn't get a good over/under drive ratio. So, the comp 3 rear axle got switched out to a generic. The Valley of Fire build has the Meus 2-14T front gearing and 2-18T rear gearing for 25% over/under drive. It looks like I could have ordered the axles with 2-12T front gear for 33%, oh well, out of time.

Other interesting mods include grinding the front and rear axle pumpkins and using the ProLine PRO638700 shocks from the Summit Racing Gladiator. In local comps this is a little cheat for Class 0 since they are an Axial part. Glad you were okay with it too. Although it looks like others have done really well with the stock plastic shocks. I also used copper crush washers for the front knuckle weights. The cool kids cut them in half, but I needed the weight. This ended up being a straight 60/40 build with only 380 total grams.

Not sure if Valley of Fire will be fire, but I'd put my name on it :-) Shout outs to my local hobby store Nankin Hobby for great support and hosting the competitions, and to Jeff Harig and Empty Wallet RC for running the competitions, helping with my builds and pushing to me to be better.

Really hope this gets selected! Looking forwards to the videos either way.

Sincerely,

Jeff Hunter (aka HunterSpec?)
